Our Story

Cute But Deadly Nail Co. was founded by director Zara Evry in 2020 and houses a collective of self-employed nail artists and a guest tarot reader.

Zara has been covering Edinburgh in nail art for the past 18 years (with a slight gap where she held lots of Australian hands), and for the last two years, she has also ventured into tooth gem artistry. 💎

Cute But Deadly was inspired by Zara and her client’s aesthetic of traditional tattoo art, vibrancy, and all things extra. We are an inclusive space for everyone (regardless of gender) to express their own style and creativity through nail art and tooth gems.

“I wanted to create a space for nail technicians like myself, who felt like they didn’t fit in the beauty industry’s standards but more in the category of artists. It’s a space where you can feel comfortable as a client and artist, rocking up wearing what you want to work or for an appointment without judgment. It’s also somewhere where artists are not treated as subservient by clients but are appreciated for their honed skills. Most of all, it’s somewhere I can pass my knowledge on and help others build their creative dream into a career and income, and clients can feel comfortable and among friends when they come through the door.”

In 2020, we came to life during a pandemic in the basement of our friend’s Rock’n’Rose hair salon, where we quickly found our feet and grew with many new talented nail artists having to expand to our very own home in Edinburgh’s iconic Easter Road.

We are very proud to be part of the creative business community, so please check out the other shops when you visit us.
